UFC 333 results and bonuses: Volkanovski stops Evloev, Yan and Dvalishvili earn Fight of the Night

Alexander Volkanovski retained the UFC featherweight title and earned a $100,000 bonus by stopping previously unbeaten Movsar Evloev in the UFC 333 main event at Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi on Saturday, October 24. The official result is a TKO at 4:54 of Round 2, according to UFC News. It is the first professional loss for Evloev, who entered the fight 20-0. In the co-main event, Petr Yan beat Merab Dvalishvili by unanimous decision (48-47 x3) to keep the bantamweight title.

Alexander Volkanovski stops Movsar Evloev

Volkanovski finished the fight six seconds before the end of the second round. MMA Junkie listed the method as TKO (punches) and MMA Fighting as TKO (strikes); the UFC lists it as TKO. Ariel Helwani called him "the timeless wonder."

According to ESPN MMA, Volkanovski now has nine title fight wins, the most in featherweight history. Before the fight, UFC.com described the bout as his seventh total title defense across two reigns.

After the win, Volkanovski hinted that he is not done. "I'm choosing to do it (fighting). I don't have to," he said, as quoted by Helwani. "I said if I don't take too much damage, we will probably keep going. So maybe we keep going." No next opponent has been announced.

Petr Yan keeps the bantamweight title

Yan and Dvalishvili went the full 25 minutes, and Helwani called it a "Fight of the year contender." According to UFC.com, Dvalishvili pushed a heavy wrestling pace early before Yan took over from the third round. The win gives Yan a 2-1 lead in the trilogy and his first successful title defense, the UFC said. Helwani suggested a rematch with Sean O'Malley could be next for Yan.

UFC 333 bonuses

The UFC awarded four $100,000 bonuses, according to UFC.com. Yan and Dvalishvili shared Fight of the Night for their five-round title fight, while Volkanovski and Lone'er Kavanagh each earned Performance of the Night for their stoppages.

MMA Junkie reported that five other fighters received $25,000 finish bonuses for stoppages that did not win a main award: Aaron Pico, Dominick Reyes, Abdul Rakhman Yakhyaev, Abus Magomedov and Kody Steele. The UFC's bonus announcement lists only the four $100,000 awards.

Lone'er Kavanagh knocked out Ramazan Temirov at 4:28 of Round 1 with an uppercut and follow-up punches, ending Temirov's 12-fight winning streak. Alexander Volkov beat Rizvan Kuniev by unanimous decision on his 38th birthday and asked what more he needs for a title shot. Aaron Pico opened the main card by stopping Losene Keita in 74 seconds for his first UFC finish.
