Undefeated welterweight Jacobe Smith passed the biggest test of his career on Saturday, October 31, beating Randy Brown by unanimous decision in the co-main event of UFC Vegas 123 (UFC Fight Night 292) at the Meta APEX in Las Vegas. All three judges scored the bout 30-26 for Smith, according to the official result posted by UFC News. Smith then named Gabriel Bonfim and Sean Brady as his next targets and, according to MMA Junkie, said he still wants his twice-cancelled fight with Kevin Holland rebooked.

Sherdog lists Smith at 14-0 overall and 5-0 in the UFC after the win, while Brown drops to 20-9 (14-9 UFC) and has now lost three in a row.

How the fight played out

Smith stepped in on short notice for the injured Carlos Leal, only four weeks after his first-round knockout of Bruce Whitehead at UFC 332. He opened with hard leg kicks while Brown used his reach to stay off the fence, then landed a power double-leg takedown late in the first round, MMA Fighting reported.

In the second round Smith took Brown down again and, after breaking through his rubber guard, landed elbows that opened a deep cut on Brown's head. The third round followed the same script: another takedown, heavy ground and pound to the body and head, and Brown bleeding badly under him until the final horn. MMA News credited Smith with just over nine minutes of ground control time.

It was the first time Smith had gone past the second round in the UFC, and the first decision of his UFC run. He had finished all of his previous UFC opponents.

Callouts: Bonfim, Brady and Holland

In his post-fight interview, Smith pointed to the UFC's January 16 card in Dallas, the event he had already said he was eyeing during fight week.

"It just solidifies the greatness and the hard work with the people I surround myself with," Smith said, as quoted by MMA Fighting. "I just feel like I'm good everywhere and I can do whatever. Dallas, what's up baby? Give me somebody. Y'all got [Gabriel] Bonfim? Sean Brady?"

Bonfim and Brady were supposed to headline UFC Vegas 124 on November 7, but Brady withdrew with an injury and the bout was cancelled. Johnny Walker vs Waldo Cortes-Acosta became the new main event. Bonfim also has a win over Brown: he knocked him out in November 2025.

MMA Junkie reported that Smith also laid out a wider list of opponents and admitted he still wants the Holland fight rebooked. The two were booked for UFC Oklahoma City in July and again for UFC 332 on October 3, but Holland withdrew from both. Holland now faces Uros Medic at UFC 334 at Madison Square Garden on November 14. After UFC 332, Smith warned that if Holland beats Medic, "I'm coming for you." During fight week he told Full Send MMA, via Sherdog, that he expected an altercation with Holland outside the cage because of their direct messages.

Smith also told UFC News he felt he "executed well." At media day he told MMA Junkie that he wants two or three fights against ranked opponents in 2027 and a title shot in early 2028.

What is confirmed and what is not

Confirmed: Smith beat Brown by unanimous decision (30-26, 30-26, 30-26) in the UFC Vegas 123 co-main event. Holland vs Medic is booked for UFC 334. Not confirmed: no next fight has been announced for Smith, and neither Bonfim, Brady nor Holland had publicly responded to the callouts at the time of writing. The claims about Holland's direct messages come only from Smith.
