Khamzat Chimaev tech-falls Robbie Lawler 11-0 at RAF 14, moves to 4-0 in RAF
Khamzat Chimaev beat Robbie Lawler by technical fall, 11-0, in the RAF 14 co-main event in Las Vegas to improve to 4-0 in Real American Freestyle.
Former UFC middleweight champion Khamzat Chimaev defeated former UFC welterweight champion Robbie Lawler by technical fall, 11-0, in the co-main event of Real American Freestyle (RAF) 14 on Friday, October 23, at Fontainebleau Las Vegas. MMA Fighting reported the result, and RAF celebrated the win on X with the post "BORZ IS 4-0". The card streamed on Fox Nation.
Chimaev vs Lawler
The catchweight crossover match was Lawler's RAF debut and his first competition of any kind since he retired from MMA after knocking out Niko Price at UFC 290 in 2023. The 44-year-old UFC Hall of Famer was an all-state high school wrestler in Bettendorf, Iowa, but never wrestled beyond that, according to MMA Fighting.
Chimaev, a three-time Swedish national wrestling champion, made weight at 195 pounds for the match. He kept his unbeaten RAF record intact and is now 4-0 in the promotion with two pins and two technical falls:
- Dillon Danis, by pin, in June
- Tyron Woodley, by pin in 94 seconds, at RAF Moscow
- Gilbert Burns, by technical fall, 15-4, at RAF 13 in September
- Robbie Lawler, by technical fall, 11-0, at RAF 14
Chimaev began competing in RAF after losing the UFC middleweight title to Sean Strickland at UFC 328. He is already booked to face RAF crossover champion Colby Covington for the cruiserweight crossover title at RAF Abu Dhabi on November 14.
Main event: Tsarukyan vs Danis
The main event followed immediately: UFC lightweight contender Arman Tsarukyan against Dillon Danis for the inaugural RAF middleweight crossover championship. No result had been confirmed at the time of publication. Tsarukyan is looking to bounce back from his only RAF loss, to Covington in July, while Danis entered 0-2 in RAF, with losses to Covington and Chimaev.
The week was heated. At the RAF 14 press conference earlier in fight week, Tsarukyan went after Danis and sparked a brawl that also drew in Chimaev, who was in the crowd and was taken away by security. Lawler told MMA Fighting after the incident: "We need to do a better job."
