Israel Adesanya will fight Shara "Bullet" Magomedov in the main event of UFC Saudi Arabia on Saturday, December 5, according to MMA journalist Ariel Helwani. The report spread across MMA media on X on the evening of Thursday, October 15, with outlets including Championship Rounds and Spinnin Backfist citing Helwani. The middleweight bout would mark the UFC's third trip to Saudi Arabia.

The UFC has not officially announced the fight or the event at the time of publication, and neither fighter's team had publicly commented. Treat the booking as reported, not confirmed.

What has been reported

  • Adesanya vs Magomedov is set as the main event of UFC Saudi Arabia, per Helwani.
  • The event is reportedly scheduled for December 5.
  • Earlier in October, journalist Kevin K (@realkevink) reported that the matchup was being discussed for a Saudi Arabia card, with November 28 floated as the date at the time. He wrote that it was "expected to be the main event as well, I'm told per multiple sources."

The date in Helwani's report differs from the November 28 date mentioned in those early October reports. The UFC calendar already has UFC Qatar on November 21 and UFC 335 on December 12.

Adesanya looks to snap a skid

Adesanya, 37, is a former two-time UFC middleweight champion, but he enters the fight on a four-fight losing streak. His most recent outing ended in a second-round stoppage loss to Joe Pyfer at UFC Seattle, where Pyfer finished him with ground and pound at Climate Pledge Arena. In July, Adesanya announced he was parting ways with longtime coach Eugene Bareman and City Kickboxing. According to Sovsport, he holds a 24-6 professional record and sits ninth in the UFC middleweight rankings.

Shara Bullet gets the fight he wanted

Magomedov, 32, has been calling for this matchup for months. The Dagestani striker called out Adesanya after beating Michel Pereira at UFC Baku in June, his second straight win. According to Sovsport, he is 17-1 as a professional and 6-1 in the UFC. His only loss came against Michael "Venom" Page by unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night: Adesanya vs Imavov in Riyadh in February 2025, the same card where Adesanya was knocked out by Nassourdine Imavov.

At UFC Baku, teammate Abus Magomedov also asked for a fight with Adesanya after submitting Michal Oleksiejczuk. Shara said at the time that he would step aside if the opportunity went to Abus, but the latest report puts Shara in the main event.
